The Great Big Bands starring the entire Knoxville Jazz Orchestra Wednesday, June 2 Noon to 1pm Purchase Tickets The KJO returns to Jazz Lunch with a set of music honoring some of the great big bands from the history of Jazz. The set will include arrangements from the bands of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, Quincy Jones and Thad Jones. A must see for any fan of big band jazz.
Tribute to Stan Getz Tenor saxophonist Stan Getz was among the most influential saxophonists of his generation. He was a key figure in the Cool Jazz style of the 1950s and helped to popularize the Bossa Nova in the United States in the early 1960s. William Boyd's tribute will highlight some of Getz's most popular work with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao and Astrud Gilberto.
Tribute to Chick Corea Pianist Chick Corea is still one of the most important voices in jazz today. Bill Swann's tribute will cover a cross-section of Corea's output, from his early acoustic days, on up through his modern electric bands.
